Wild has asked members for updated costing. Questions concerning certain items include: what widgets do we need to put in front of everything? Calibration items, solar prediction, polarization. No real accurate numbers on these items at the moment. A rough start would be to have something over each feed in a certain timeframe. For this costing, it is a good idea to include the cost of helium dewar for the test dewar. Instead of allowing the cartridge manufacturer to assume this.
How detailed of costing do we go? Management explained we need to cost to the level where there is a definite work package established. Should be similar to previous costing documents. Members expressed concern over the due date and Wild/Payne agreed to set this to be 2001-Apr-04.
Wild distributed the list of ICDs proposed by Tan. Discussions on how the group will have the resources to complete these new tasks ensued. If members agree to take on these new task other areas may lose time. There were no volunteers for the named ICDs. Some of the interfaces Tan listed cannot be completed at this time. We need to review what interfaces that need to be complete as not to hold up other divisions. We need to zero in on the interfaces that are highest priority. Harmen agreed to take on the cartridge band to dewar interface. Cartridge #7 and #5 designers need the electrical interfaces, but this is deferred until the Project has a systems engineer/electronics work package person.
Rafal states that management knows that there is work in the Front End that needs to be completed and cannot go forward without more resources. However, at the present time we do need to make sure that we are utilizing the resources we have properly. Work package definitions are being worked on with management. This will divulge the structure of who works together on which items. Some reorganization is being planned. Wild and Payne have been working with management on this and provide the final plan to members soon.
