The Atacama Array
Japan-US Workshop on Millimeter and Submillimeter
Astronomy at 10 milliarcseconds Resolution
The interest of the NSF in seeing the MMA secure the participation of
other government agencies and/or international partners is being
pursued with a variety of initiatives proposed. One possible
collaboration between the NRAO MMA and the NRO
LMSA is to create,
periodically, a single combined instrument in a 10~km configuration,
called the Atacama Array. This array will have 90 elements, perhaps
6000 sq m collecting area, will operate between 70 and 850 GHz, and
will have a maximum resolution of about 10 milli-arcseconds.
Atacama Array Scientific and Technical Workshop
Scientific and technical issues of the Atacama Array will be
discussed at a workshop in Tokyo March 16-19, 1997.
Please contact Bob Brown at rbrown@nrao.edu if you are
interested in attending this workshop on the Atacama Array.
Some Atacama Array issues are being investigated:
