Abstract Preparation

All participants will receive a copy of the abstract book when they arrive. All authors of invited and poster presentations are requested to prepare abstracts of their contributions. The following LaTeX markup files should be used to create your abstract contributions:

  • science99abs.sty - LaTeX input style file for the poster abstracts. This file is necessary if you want to print your abstract before sending it. This file should reside in the same directory as the LaTeX manuscript that you are processing.
  • science99abs.tex - Minimal LaTeX file for entering your abstract.
  • science99samp.tex - Sample completed abstract.

Send abstracts to Al Wootten (awootten@nrao.edu).

==> ALL ABSTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY SEPTEMBER 10, 1999 <==

Poster Submissions

Each poster will be given one-half of a 4' x 8' board, approximately one meter square.

Checklist for Paper Submission

      1. Get the LaTeX template and style files from ftp.aoc.nrao.edu.

      % ftp ftp.aoc.nrao.edu
      ftp> [log in as anonymous]
ftp> [use your email address as the password]
      ftp> cd pub/mma/abstracts/
      ftp> mget *
      ftp> [exit]

      • Prepare your paper following the instructions in the README and papsman.tex files.

      • The page limit is 10 pages for invited talks, and 4 pages for posters. Page limits will be strictly enforced and papers exceeding this limit will be returned to the authors for resubmission.

      • Check your paper carefully.

      • Include at least 6 keywords in your LaTeX file that are appropriate for your manuscript.

      • Prepare any figures or illustrations at production size, if they will not be provided in EPS format. All figures will appear as black and white.

      • Check to be sure you have included an abstract. Papers without abstracts will be returned to the authors for one.
      • View an example .tex file
        View the PostScript output file

      2. Submit your manuscript

      • Deposit the LaTeX copy of your manuscript along with any computer graphics in EPS format in the directory pub/incoming/mma on the node ftp.aoc.nrao.edu.

      • Identify the LaTeX copy by using the last name plus the first name initial of the first author, e.g., hanischr.tex. Any EPS files should be identified in a similar way, e.g., hanischr1.eps, hanischr2.eps. Authors with multiple papers will need to indicate this as well, e.g., crabtreed1.tex, crabtreed1_1.eps.

      • Mail 1 copy of your manuscript and any illustrations at production size to editor's address:
        Al Wootten
        NRAO
        520 Edgemont Road
        Charlottesville, Virginia 22903-2475

      • Manuscripts must be received no later than December 21, 1999 in order to be assured publication in the Proceedings.
