Keywords: correlator, atacama array, clustered array

This memorandum describes discussions of the proposed Atacama Array by the Systems Working Group of the MMA Development Consortium. The specifications of the MMA and LMSA are briefly reviewed. As a model for consideration of the combined array, a configuration of clusters of antennas located around a circle of 10 km diameter is used. The interconnection of the antennas to the correlators, including the relative merits of cross correlation of individual antennas or phased clusters, is considered. The extent to which the full array can be accommodated using the correlators required for stand-alone operation of the two arrays is considered. Other topics include the additional requirements of the fiber transmission system with the combined array and areas where design compatibility of the two arrays is important.
