Cryogenics Options for the MMA

A general discussion of design considerations for cryocooling of MMA receivers is given. Emphasis is on cooling to 4K for SIS mixers, since this is the most demanding requirement. Close attention is paid to power efficiency. Possible technologies are listed. Later memos will give more detailed reviews of each of several technologies.
